Preliminary Task...

 Filming and Editing:

My experience of filming the preliminary task was really good; I enjoyed filming we used a Panasonic camera to film, and a tripod to help support the camera, if you film with your hands you can shake, and the video won’t have a good quality. However the main difficulty was to follow the story board, next time before doing it, we have to check the space we have and where we are placing the camera and the tripod.

            After finish filming we went straight to editing, which I thought  it was going to take longer, although we worked a lot for just 1 minute work. Therefore I realised that even for a small work, filming and editing takes a lot of time. I though I was going to struggle to use IMOVIE but I was wrong, once you start and get familiar with it you learn really quickly.

            I had some problems editing the preliminary, because it was really different from what you see when you are filming. Next time when I am filming I have to be careful, with how I finish each shot because it might not match with your next shot.

We learn that we have to keep everything in the same place so when you doing your next shot its not different from the previous. Although we had some difficulties it was a great experience which a learned a lot.

Introduced to MAC`s and Camera Equipments...

Today in class we learn about filming.

We used for the first time:

·       Cameras + bag + charger + tape.

·       Tripods and mini tripod + bags.

·       Microphone (directional and the normal one)

  

We filmed the people from our group saying their name and candidate number. The purpose is to have an idea how the cameras work. Each group is responsible for their tape and to be organised we labelled each one with the group name.

We also have being introduced to the Mac’s; especially to use IMOVIE which is a simple program that we will help us to edit our videos, for the preliminary task and the opening sequence.

As Media Production:

This was the first presentation that the class was asked to produce, we had a lot of good ideas for opening sequences. My presentation went really well, I was a bit nervous but it was okay. I would give me a B grade considering the mark scheme.

Start of the course…

So far we have been ask to develop our ideas by creating a presentation and present to the whole class. The presentation must have your knowledge of what is media production and what do you know about media as a whole; also explain different types of genres. The second part of the presentation must have developed ideas of what genre you going to use, what your whole film is going to be about, and plan your opening sequence by making a story board. All this research helped me to have an idea of what is media as a whole, and I also learned how to develop my ideas. So far the course its very interesting and I’m enjoying a lot.

Grades

I choose Media Studies because I was really interested in media production, and the content of the subject captivate me really well. As I started school in year 9 with out speaking a word of English this affect my ALIS grades, but as you will see over the terms I improved a lot.
